Iantha is an accomplished musician with eclectic musical experience.Iantha

She lived in France for 13 years, where she found  inspiration improvising on the violin and playing various styles of music, such as salsa (with ‘Salsa Illegal), French rock (with Arcahuetas), electronic avant-garde (with Artzoyd).  She started an Old-time and Cajun band (Joly Louise), singing lead and playing guitar, violin and banjoline.

Iantha has studied classical violin since the age of 6 and has studied with Gerard Svazlian (of the San Francisco Opera Orchestra) and Roy Malan (of the San Francisco Ballet Orchestra). She performed with the San Francisco Youth Orchestra on 2 European tours. At the University of Santa Cruz (California) , she received a BM degree in violin performance with an emphasis on Indonesian Gamelan (a traditional ensemble made up of percussion instruments) and performed with the Contemporary Music Ensemble.

 

She teaches with the BRAVO Youth Orchestras in Portland, Oregon in addition to giving private lessons on fiddle, classical violin and guitar.

As a new mother, Iantha is teaching privately at home, and taking care of her eight month old daughter.  She is also working on building a music studio with cob.
